Summary

Summary should be an abstract of your thesis abstract. Try to think that companies and others will probably spend little time here, so get them interested. No more than 200 words is good advice. Think about advertising yourselves (both here and throughout). A good start of this section goes like: "This project deals with how to configure foo-filters in bar-controllers, which holds potential to greatly improve ..."

Title of your choosing... main body

To get started, you will need to get a login and password to this wiki. Contact your thesis supervisor and we will make you one. After that, read thru the rest of this page to the end, where more instructions follow. We assume that you use the name NewName for your new page here.

Use font weights sparingly, but when appropriate. Write in nice sections, and try to keep it short. You may take up as much space as you like, but putting your full thesis here will be counterproductive to your goals.

The 'Wiki'

You are now inside IS-labs Wiki-pages. The purpose is for you to advertise your work, and to make it easier for you to e.g. get future work. Because this wiki is under construction, we do not guarantee that what you write here will be kept, but very likely there will be a spot like this one for you to fill in for the future. Make sure that you save whatever text, videos and images that you put here someplace secure. Nothing is guaranteed to remain here.

Using The 'Wiki'

Using URLs in the text is easy, and remember that you can always click edit on a page to see how anything in particular is done.

Images

Images are essential for illustration. The best way to put up anything from tables, to figures, to graphs or fotographs is to follow these steps:

1. Name all your image files something like NewNameX.foo , for anything for X, and jpeg or gif for foo. NewName is the same name you gave the page you are working in. That is IMPORTANT.

2. Goto here, upload "NewNameX.foo"

3. In the wiki-page of your choosing, enter the lines:

  [[File:NewNameX.foo]

Video

Videos are suitable for visualization of algorithms, multi-dimensional data, and illustration of designed systems in action. Bad examples of videos include a late night chat when program/writing thesis, a trip to the hardware store (even if its to buy materials for the project) or likewise. This is no place to produce a reality show around your thesis work. Follow these steps to upload video:

1. Name all your video files something like NewNameX.foo , for anything for X, and avi/mpeg (or similar video file ending) for for foo. NewName is the same name you gave the page you are working in.

2. Download ffmpeg (select static build for the system you are running), and place ffmpeg.exe executable in path (or directory of video files)

3. From the commandline, type "ffmpeg -i NewNameX.foo NewNameX.ogg" to generate NewNameX.ogg. If you want to include audio, type: "ffmpeg -i NewNameX.foo -acodec libvorbis -aq 100 NewNameX.ogg"

UPDATE: it now also works with the package ffmpeg2theora instead of ffmpeg. They seem to yield slightly different outputs, so trying both and choose the best one if you want to get best quality.

4. Goto here, upload "NewNameX.ogg"

5. In the wiki-page of your choosing, enter the lines:

  [[File:NewNameX.ogg]]

File Limitations

Any unsuitable, suspect or otherwise tasteless material will be removed, with possible dire consequences to any student. The total limitation of all files uploaded is 50 MB, but can be extended if needed. Failure to comply will result in deletion of page contents.

Personal Information

We recommend a small section with a photograph of the students together with their names and contact information (email, phone, place of work if any). If you have personal web-pages, a link to those may be in order here. Do not write your life story here.

Fobernicus(left) and Sven (right)

Fobernicus started his Masters eductation in Halmstad in 2010, with a special interest in Foo filters, Bar-controllers and digital forensics, as outlined in his CV.

Sven started his Bachelors in Halmstad in 2007, and has a special interest in low-level implementations of controllers. His personal webpage with an active blogg on Foo-filters, has become an internet resource.

Create a New Project Page

Now that you have read the above, and logged in with your provided username and password, you can type the name of your new page here:

Project Diary

It might be a good idea to keep a diary of the activities you do in the project. One way to do that is to create a sub-page of the project page. So in this case the project page is GenericMasterThesisDesc and GenericMasterThesisDesc/diary is the sub-page (same name as project and append /diary).
