Introduction
A Meta MOOC can probably be at least two things.
- A MOOC about how to arrange MOOCs,
- a mechanism to point out other already existing MOOCs, or part of them. This is how its used in this context.
Meta MOOC for leveling students from other universities before they attend our masters programme
- Background
- Students who have a different background, in comparison to our local student, sometimes do not have all prerequisite we would like when attending our masters programme. There is only little room for leveling courses, so a Meta-MOOC, perhaps in combination with with a self-assessment to figure-out weaknesses and strengths. Based on identified needs points out good material.
- Howto arrange it
- expected outcome
- examples of material that could be used
- This is similar to what student get in Computer system engineering I: https://www.edx.org/course/embedded-systems-shape-world-utaustinx-ut-6-03x
- This could be a nice programming module, in Python: http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-00sc-introduction-to-computer-science-and-programming-spring-2011/index.htm
- This one seem popular: https://www.coursetalk.com/providers/coursera/courses/learn-to-program-crafting-quality-code
- algorithms by Sedgewick: https://www.coursetalk.com/providers/coursera/courses/algorithms-part-i
Meta MOOC for pointing to good existing material for life-long learning in e.g. company environments
- Background
- Developing all the material in-house is not a guarantee for quality, especially not with limited resources. Arranging distance learning courses is time consuming and the drop-out rate is high.
- Idea
- Develop a course based in existing material, identify the modules from other sources. This could be used as is or complemented by practical laboratory sessions and/or examination.
Develop a MOOC based on part of the "perspectives course" for a beginners introduction of AI and Matlab
- Background
- Today we give a campus course for 130+ first year students, where one part of the course consist of developing an AI agent (a computer program) in Matlab which plays the game 2048. More info on 2048
- Idea
- make a MOOC based on this.

- Using a wiki as platform for MOOCs
