WG211/M4Directions
0) Please print the google map of the destination address: [here]
0) You can get automatically generated directions here:
http://www.trimet.org/go/cgi-bin/itin.pl
They are usually pretty good, and easy to follow. You can also print relevant maps there as well (but print the google map anyway).
You can use that system to tailor the trip to your actual arrival time.
PDX airport has free internet, so, you can also use that system when you arrive (you won't be able to print new directions at that time, but you can put new notes on the ones you printed before).
1) We recommend that you take the light rail (also called "the Max") from PDX to Portland downtown (city center). It should be about a 45 minute ride and costs $2. There is a machine for purchasing the tickets in the airport. The train is the red line, which is the only one that goes to the airport. The airport is also the end of this line, so you can take whichever train is leaving next. The other end of the line is Beaverton.
2) If you don't mind a ten minute walk at the end of your trip, get off the light rail at "Morrrison and 3rd" station. Then, walk one block in the direction of the light rail traffic. That should put you on 3rd. Take a right (heading south) and 11 (fairly short) blocks. When you've reached Lincoln St, you should be able to see University Place.
3) For much less walking, get off the light rail at the "Main Library" station. Go to 11th Ave. Then take the street car heading south. Get off at first or second stations on SW Harrison St. Lincoln St is one block south.
4) If you get into PDX late (after 10), it may be easier if you take a taxi from the airport.
